He gets excited about counting and identifying birds and trees, the old-fashioned way, as well as by utilizing computer-vision and machine-learning algorithms. Nick is a certified drone pilot specializing in scientific and conservation applications. He finds meaning by incorporating volunteering into his life - as a community scientist for the Audubon Society of Portland, as a board member and tutor for the Read-A-Story program in India, and as a mountaineering instructor with the Mazamas. Whenever possible, Matt is outside exploring our great public lands and waters with his wife and two little girls. Matt has served on many advisory and collaborative groups in Oregon and Washington, and he is the Conservation Chair of the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, Washington Chapter. In addition to helping provide executive services for World Salmon Council, Matt is the Director of Investor Partnerships at SVP Portland – focused on providing equity in early childhood education. After serving in EPA’s Wetlands Division and advising Members of Congress, including the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan of New York, Matt moved to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to salmon and wild places.įor the last 20 years, Matt has helped lead many nonprofit conservation organizations in the region, including the National Wildlife Federation, the Oregon Natural Desert Association, and the Cascade Forest Conservancy, where he served as Executive Director. After studying biology at Dartmouth and public policy at the Maxwell School of Public Affairs, Matt went to DC to help improve our nation’s conservation policies.

Matt is an outdoor enthusiast who has spent his career focused on conservation. I am a firm believer that no one can care about what they don’t know about so I am super excited about the opportunity to help show a diverse group of youth the amazing things that exist in such close proximity to where we all live. I am thrilled to be on the board of the World Salmon Council as it gives me a chance to share my passion for the outdoors with the next generation. When he’s not working Adam can be found spending time with his kids on the water or in the woods, fishing, mountain biking, kayaking or hiking.Īs a father of 2 boys I am frequently surprised by the detachment many of their friends have from the outdoors and how excited most kids are for the opportunity to catch a small glimpse of something wild. For the past 15 years sharing that love of the outdoors has been central to his career. Adam has been lucky enough to transfer his passion for spending time outdoors into a career for most of his adult life. With a family that ran a nonprofit organization his entire life he grew up seeing first hand the difference that an organization can make when offering an opportunity to experience the outdoors.
